The cover letter / the submission letter

The layout of the letter needs to be considered; it is easiest to use the more formal blocked style in which everything is justified to the left (address, date, heading, body…). The expressions highlighted in the letter below are standard and can be used almost systematically in this type of letter.

our manuscript entitled
"Initial Management of Newly Diagnosed RA".
We have chosen to submit our article to "Rheumatology Today" because the journal has already published articles on closely-related topics. The early identification and treatment of RA is crucial to prevent inflammatory damage and the resulting disability. At present, there is a wide range of disease-modifying rheumatic drugs to choose from, but it is still difficult to decide which drug to use with which patient. In this study, we report on our experience of various DMARDs used in patients newly diagnosed with RA, and followed for five years. We believe that the data reported in this article will be of interest to the readership of your journal.
